For over two decades in sub-Saharan Africa, the media has served as the primary witness to elections and democratic freedoms after years of state control over politics and information. The media plays a crucial role in communicating public information about the electoral process, promoting civic participation, facilitating democratic debates, ensuring transparency and good governance, and monitoring the integrity of the entire process, including election observation, control of preliminary stages, and denouncing any malfunctions.
