AfricTivistes, as part of the Charter Project Africa, is organizing a pan-African digital innovation competition to encourage innovation and the creation of new and creative solutions in order to promote democratic governance, particularly at the local level. It is also about encouraging the creation of new solutions and the development of innovative products and services in line with technological developments. The #Innov4Democracy hackathon also aims to raise awareness of the African Charter for Democracy, Elections and Good Governance (CADEG) and to encourage the participation of citizen activists, young people from grassroots community organizations (CBOs), stakeholders civil society bloggers, web activists and media professionals to its implementation. The #Innov4Democracy hackathon is inclusive and allows us to map the best digital solutions brought by young Africans. Every citizen of an African country could vote for one of ten pre-selected digital solutions on the basis of originality, replicability or the impact of the project in the advancement of democracy and good governance. The selection process is made up of several stages, each of which has its importance in rewarding the best innovations during a major continental event to be held in 2024 in an African capital.
The 10 best projects will be pre-selected for the big competition. Subsequently, the five best teams will receive a grant of €5,000 each and will benefit from technical support from AfricTivistes.
